Im Internet verbreitet sich das Video zum neuesten Geniestreich von Norman Cook (aka. Fatboy Slim) und David Byrne wie ein Lauffeuer. Kein Wunder, denn nackte Tatsachen ziehen an. 80er-Porno-Party-Style!

Innovative, spaßige Zensurkunst!
Unter dem Projektnamen „Brighton Port Authority” (kurz BPA) werkt Norman Cook (übrigens geboren als Quentin Leo Cook) mit David Byrne (ex Talking Heads) und anderen hochkarätigen Künstlern wie Iggy Pop, Dizzee Rascal, Martha Wainwright and Ashley Beedle an einem neuen Album. Die Wurzeln hat das Projekt – wie man hören und sehen kann – in den 70ern und 80ern. Fast schon vergessene Tapes – ausgegraben in Dachböden und Kellern - ein Wink der musikalischen Vergangenheit Südenglands – werden nun Jahrzehnte später erstmals in modernen Discos zu hören sein.

„The Brigthon Port Authority were an outfit who built a huge word-of-mouth reputation on England’s south coast from the early 1970s onwards before petering out in de mid-'90s. From what can be easily pieced together, they were a loose-limbed jamming unit, originally known as the Brighton Phonographic Association. At its core were local musicians Norman Cook and Simon Thornton who gathered various singers and session men around them, built the rather ramshackle BPA studio, and would occasionally hold multi-day warehouse parties from which their semi-legendary reputation stems. Gerüchten zufolge ist das offizielle Release-Datum von ‚Toe Jam‘ auf morgen (7. Juli) festgelegt. In den FM4-Charts schoss die Single in der ersten Wertungswoche direkt auf die Acht.

Wie es scheint, wird uns The BPA’s Latino-Sound und Big Beat diesen Sommer noch öfters beglücken. Thumbs Up!
